Roy Henry Vickers is a renowned First Nations artist. I visited his gallery while in Tofino and was completely inspired by his use of saturated colours, and positive and negative space. I was also fortunate enough to have a balcony at the wonderful Wickaninnish Hotel that faced this scene. I photographed it at different times of the day and each picture I took has a very different feel to it. But this one felt right in that it was my little tribute to Mr. Vickers. I am so thankful to have been able to see the natural world in a similar way to him, if only for a quick few seconds.
