Over a period of two months in Naples, Florida, I made exactly one picture. This one. It wasn’t that the ocean wasn’t often beautiful, or that the landscaping wasn’t vivid and stunning. I suppose that it was, for me, just a lot of the same. Add to that, I never took the time to really see what was around me. Then one morning, I peered from my bedroom window and saw this. I find inspiration to be energizing, exciting and beyond, elusive and often tricky to explain. But there was something in this seascape that moved me. The ocean was its typical caribbean aqua, and the sky deep blue. But for my taste, this image came to life when I took the colours away.
